Call for Contributions
LIRIC is entering an exciting new chapter, and we're looking for voices shaping the future of writing and wellbeing. We encourage submissions that deepen contemporary understanding, challenge current assumptions and foster ongoing, meaningful dialogue, and we are particularly interested in work which bridges research and professional practice.
We publish articles by researchers, educators, therapists, psychologists, nurses, medical practitioners and those working in other sectors to improve health outcomes, creative writers, those with lived experience, and interdisciplinary professionals from around the world. We value diversity and openness to cultural, methodological, philosophical, and theoretical perspectives. If your work explores the benefits that writing has for wellbeing, health or therapeutic practice, we’d love to hear from you.
What can you submit?
We welcome a range of contributions, including:
● Original research articles
● Essays and reflective inquiry
● Practice observations and case reflections
● Interviews and professional conversations
● Creative-critical work and poetry
● Book and arts reviews, viewpoints and responses
Submission deadline: we are now accepting submissions for the autumn issues.

Upcoming! September's LLRC, with Dr Kim Etherington
The next LLRC event will be on Saturday 5th September 2026 at 10am and will be hosted by Dr Kim Etherington. This session offers a space for discussion and exploration of what encourages or stops people contributing their knowledge to the developing field of words and writing for wellbeing by sharing their work through publication. Kim will also provide practical guidance on how to use the knowledge gained from your research to create a journal article. Catch up on August's brilliant LLRC, with Dr Buki Akilapa and Sue Spencer!
In this session the hosts held a conversation about Buki's recent LIRIC article, 'Journey of Reflection: Girlhood, Migration, Grief and Healing Through Soul Work'. Their dialogue explored the complex and important ideas in her writing, charting a journey from unnamed, inherited patterns to self-compassion and re-cognition; and the Lapidus members who joined Sue and Buki were given the opportunity to reflect, write, and share.
