Call for Contributions

LIRIC is entering an exciting new chapter, and we're looking for voices shaping the future of writing and wellbeing. We encourage submissions that deepen contemporary understanding, challenge current assumptions and foster ongoing, meaningful dialogue, and we are particularly interested in work which bridges research and professional practice.

We publish articles by researchers, educators, therapists, psychologists, nurses, medical practitioners and those working in other sectors to improve health outcomes, creative writers, those with lived experience, and interdisciplinary professionals from around the world. We value diversity and openness to cultural, methodological, philosophical, and theoretical perspectives. If your work explores the benefits that writing has for wellbeing, health or therapeutic practice, we’d love to hear from you.

What can you submit?

We welcome a range of contributions, including:

● Original research articles

● Reflective and practice-based papers

● Creative and arts-informed research

● Interdisciplinary scholarship

● Essays and poetry

● Book reviews

Peer reviewers wanted!

We're also looking to grow our community of peer reviewers.

If you have expertise in writing, creativity, health, wellbeing or a related discipline, we'd love to hear from you. LIRIC values thoughtful, constructive peer review that supports authors in developing their work while maintaining high scholarly standards.

Whether you're an experienced reviewer or would like to become involved for the first time, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

What's next for LIRIC?

As our new editorial team develops the journal, we're excited to expand how we share and celebrate research. Alongside published articles, we're developing author interviews, featured conversations and other opportunities to connect research with practitioners, educators, clinicians and the wider writing for wellbeing community.

We believe publication should be the beginning of a conversation, not the end of one.

Catch up on August's brilliant LLRC!

Sue Spencer and Dr Buki Akilapa hosted this session, which took the form of a conversation about Buki's LIRIC article, 'Journey of Reflection: Girlhood, Migration, Grief and Healing Through Soul Work'. Their dialogue explored the complex and important ideas in Buki's writing, charting a journey from unnamed, inherited patterns to self-compassion and re-cognition, and the Lapidus members who joined Sue and Buki were given the opportunity to reflect, write, and share.
